The Bay City Volunteer Fire Department currently has 52 non-paid professional-quality Fire Fighters, who give up time from their jobs and personal lives to protect citizens and property. The department is unique, since they can mobilize 52 people with just one phone call and be at your doorstep in approximately 4 to 5 minutes, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We should never forget that fire fighting is one of the ten most dangerous jobs in the world. A volunteer could be injured or even lose his life at any fire/rescue scene. While accepting this danger, your local fire fighters are here to give quick and professional service, which rivals or surpasses that given by any paid fire department. Your past contributions have allowed us to purchase much needed equipment such as bunker gear, communications equipment, rescue tools and firefighting supplies. These purchases have allowed us to give you the kind of professional and efficient service that you deserve during an emergency. |

Matagorda County Fire ReportsFirefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the apartment sustained moderate damage. Firefighters remained on the scene for about 1 1/2 hours to remove smoke from seven other apartent units. At this time of the year BCVFD warns local residents to be careful with their Christmas lights and decorations. Check for faulty lights, cords and do not overload wall sockets. Be careful not to let your live Christmas trees dry out. When using candles, keep them away from other decorations and out of the reach of children. Let's keep this a bright, but safe and happy holiday season.
