Palacios ISD Goal: Student ExcellencePalacios I.S.D. provides an outstanding academic enrichment and extra-curricular program for its 1700 students.The district has achieved "recognized" status as a district dedicated to student excellence. With 152 professional staff members, Palacios ISD offers a quality educational program for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. As recipients of the Academics 2000 grant, the elementary campuses are utilizing technology in the classroom and at home. Students are offered numerous opportunities to broaden their reading through school and home reading, and teachers are provided professional development to enrich the classroom strategies currently in place. The district operates a Marine Education Center to provide supportive educational activities to K-12 students, as well as vocational aquaculture and adult education programs. The fine arts curriculum is enhanced by an outstanding fine arts complex which is also shared with our community. Other offerings include building trades, computers in every classroom and instructional labs, cosmetology, and vocational agriculture. Students are provided instructional experiences in such programs as English Second Language, Bilingual Education, Title I Schoolwide, Gifted/Talents, UIL both Academic and Athletic Academic Decathlon, Career and Technology and the Drug Free Schools & environment. As a result of fine curriculum and excellent staff, Palacios ISD students have achieved honors and/or recognition in UIL literary contest, the Duke University Talent Identification Program, athletics, music and drama, Academic Decathlon and as National Merit Scholars. |
