BAY CITY COUNTRY MUSIC GOSPEL JAMBOREE
Come join us Friday March 15th, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at the Bay City Country Music Gospel Jamboree sponsored and held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (3102 5th St.).

If you can play an instrument, sing, or just want to listen we would appreciate you joining us for some good old hometown gospel music put on by the different churches and local performers.

The only price of admission is two or more cans of food for the Bay City Food Pantry.  Contact Pastor Tom Morgan at 979-245-2390 for details on participating by March 11th.

Forgiven in concert will perform Contemporary Christian music at the First United Methodist Church, 2317 Avenue G, Bay City Saturday March 16th at 7:00 P.M.    The only price of admission is two or more cans of food for the Bay City Food Pantry. 

Holy Cross School is having Lenten Fish Fry fundraisers on the dates of Feb. 15 and 22 and March 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 5-7 p.m. in the Holy Cross Cafeteria.  Child plates are $4, and adult plates are $6.

The Nature Club Meeting on March 12 will be at 7 p.m. in the IBC Building Meeting Room, not the Bay City Service Center.  The guest speaker will be Jeff Singleton, giving a presentation about the Matagorda Bay Nature Park developing at the mouth of the Colorado River.  All are welcome.

Expecting mothers and their coaches are invited to participate in prepared childbirth classes on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. between March 12 and April 9 in the Matagorda General Hospital cafeteria.  Cost is $40 and register by calling 241-6607.

The Texas Gospel Music Barn will present De De in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Bay City Railroad Depot, 2620 Avenue G. in Bay City.  All are invited.  Admission is free.  The event is sponsored by Express Tax Center.

The March Plantation Quilting Guild meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in lake Jackson.  Contact Diana Mulloy at 299-3390.

The Matagorda County SPCA will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bay City Service Center.  The public is encouraged to attend.  Call (979) 323-8787 for more information.  The group will host its next homeless animal adoptathon on the square in Bay City on March 16 during Market Day.  Several dogs and cats will be on display and all of them need loving homes.

VWF Post No. 2412 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a flea market March 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Table rentals are $15 inside and $10 outside.  For rental or donations call Betty Jones at 244-0110 or Roxane Williams at 244-2332.

Dorothy's Cowboy Country Corner in Midfield is holding their 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Barbecue Cookoff Sunday, March 17.  A Showmanship Trophy and cash prizes will be awarded.  Call (361) 588-6212 for more information.

The Matagorda County Unit of the American Cancer Society will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the First National Bank in Bay City.  The support group will meet at 7 p.m., discussing the topic of "Talking with your Family" with Brenda Harris.  Entrance is though the side door.

Van Vleck High School Project Graduation will host a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the high school parking lot.  Those interested in donating items should call 323-9770.

Candidates for Director of Matagorda County Water Control and Improvement District No. 5 need to file their applications in writing at the Water office by March 20.  Early voting begins April 17 and ends April 30.

VFW Post 2412 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a rabies clinic March 23 from 1-3 p.m. in on FM 457 in Sargent.  Pre-registration is appreciated but not necessary. Forms with prices can be picked up at Sargent business.  Only cash is accepted.
